Easy Basement Wall Ideas

Brighten with Colour

Produce a focal point wall in the cellar by painting it a bold, warm color. This orange wall puts off an earthy palette of pea green golden, and light brown. Prints of purple accent the orange with a healthy dose.

Create a Message Board

Staple batting and fabric to the wall prior to installing the baseboard and crown molding. Stretch wide ribbon onto the diagonal from floor to ceiling to make diamonds. At every intersection of diagonals, hammer at a furniture tack to make a look.

Define Space with Partition Walls

Because partition walls do not have to support the weight of the house, you can construct them anywhere in the basement to make separate chambers. This wall divides the area from the dining area. Wood planks laid horizontally in a randomly staggered style recall exterior siding or wood flooring.

Cover the Wall with Pegboard

Panels of white-painted pegboard add funky texture to the wall of this retro-style basement. With the support of hanging hardware you can decorate the wall.

A Bright, Beautiful, Budget Finish

Make the drape panels from canvas painter's drop cloths and attach huge grommets towards the top edge. Slide the drapes onto galvanized pipe. Mount the pipe using galvanized round floor flanges (located in the pipes supply department of a home center).

Start with the Fundamentals

Strips of stained wood add architectural appeal, and panels of vivid fabric add color.
